How to Make Hamburger Helper
Step 1: Brown the Beef
Heat 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat-high heat. Add the garlic and onion and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until onions become translucent.
Add the ground beef to the pot. Use a wooden spoon to break the beef into chunks. Season with garlic powder, dried parsley, paprika, salt and pepper. Cook about 6 to 7 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
Once the beef is browned, carefully drain the rendered grease from the pan. Return the pot to the burner and reduce the heat to medium heat.
Step 2: Make Sauce and Cook Pasta
Add flour, fire roasted tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, beef broth, milk, and water to the pot with the hamburger. Mix well to combine.
Add the macaroni (or pasta of choice) to the pot. Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cook the pasta covered for roughly 12 to 15 minutes, or until the pasta is tender. Make sure to stir the pasta regularly to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Step 3: Fold in the Cheese and Serve
Once the past is tender, remove the pot from heat.
Then, simply “fold in the cheese!”
Stir well to thoroughly incorporate the cheese. Serve and enjoy.
