Peach Salsa is a light, bright, and summer produce packed dish perfect for dipping chips, topping grilled chicken or salmon, or garnishing tacos.
Peach Salsa Ingredients
- Peaches – beautifully red-orange, firm and juicy peaches are key for making a good salsa. No need to peel the skin. In a pinch, canned peaches can work, but they won’t be as fresh.
- Tomatoes – tomatoes are the base for any salsa and lend a bit of extra juiciness to the salsa.
- Bell pepper – red, orange, or yellow bell peppers are a little sweeter than their green counterparts. They add a nice crunch to this salsa.
- Red onion – red onion is a little on the sweeter side and pairs beautifully with the peaches and adds a little crispiness.
- Lime – a little lime juice helps bring the flavors of this salsa together while preserving the peaches (prevent browning).
- Cilantro & spices – fresh cilantro, salt, and pepper round out this recipe.
How to Make Peach Salsa
Slice the peaches, then dice them into pieces and transfer them to a medium serving bowl. Dice the tomatoes, onion, and red bell pepper and add them to the bowl with the peaches. Stir lightly to mix.
Juice the lime over the peach salsa. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and cilantro (if desired). Lightly toss to incorporate. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. Enjoy with tortilla chips, over fresh fish or grilled chicken!
How to Modify Peach Salsa
- Canned or frozen peaches – while fresh peaches are preferred, if they are not in season or you’re in a pinch feel free to sub in canned or frozen peaches. Canned peaches will do better. Drain the syrup/juice, dice, and fold into the salsa like with fresh peaches.
- Make it sweet – we’ve made a modified version that included just peaches and red onion and added in 1 teaspoon each of honey and cinnamon. The result was a much sweeter salsa than this savory version.
- Make it spicy – add jalapeno or habaneros to level up the spice factor.
- More fruit – add in fresh apples, apricots, plums, strawberries or any seasonal fruit of choice. The more fresh produce the better!
