Nutrient Dense. These little babies use 100% plant-based protein powder for a dose of protein, almond flour, almond butter and virgin coconut oil for healthy fats, and whole wheat pastry flour for carbohydrates.
Naturally Sweetened. This recipe also swaps out heavily processed white sugar for maple syrup (a natural sweetener) as a sweetener.
Quick and easy. The best part of these protein bites is that they just take 9 ingredients and no more than 10 minutes to whip up with zero baking required.
How to Make Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Protein Bites
To make the protein bites, simply combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Then roll the dough into 2″ balls, which should result in approximately 10 to 12 bites.
Voilร ! You’ve got yourself some delicious chocolate chip cookie dough protein bites!
You may want to pop these bites in the refrigerator for 5 to 10 minutes if they sag a little after rolling. Chilling shortly will help them solidify.
To store, place in a air-tight container and keep in the refrigerator for 5 to 7 days. We highly doubt they’ll last that long! ๐

Tips for the Best Protein Bites
Use the Right Protein Powder. I highly recommend using Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Plant-Based Vanilla protein powder. Or this brand of whey protein is really good too. You can also use your preferred brand of plant-based protein, whey protein or your own homemade protein powder blend. Just try to use one that is vanilla flavored or more neutral in flavor so as not to imbalance the flavors of the recipe.
Cut Back on Syrup if Your Protein Powder is Sweeter. There is a lot of variety in protein powder consistency and sweetness. If you use a sweeter protein powder, omit the maple syrup, as they will be too sweet. You may have to add a bit more almond milk to get the correct consistency.
Use Room Temperature Coconut Oil. I don’t recommend melting the coconut oil. It makes the protein balls too oily and they don’t hold their shape. Instead, opt for room temperature oil, which is generally a soft solid.
Vegan Chocolate Chips. If you’re keeping these protein bites vegan/plant-based, we highly recommend using Lily’s dark chocolate or semisweet chocolate chips (not sponsored link). They’re vegan and sweetened with stevia.
