This easy high-protein Peach Smoothie is the perfect vibrant and filling start to the morning. This smoothie has a mild peachy flavor, is super creamy, ready in 5 minutes, and is vegan and plant-based friendly.
As summer draws to a close, we’re trying to wring every last ounce of late seasonal produce by enjoying the bright and sticky sweetness of peaches in everything from Peach Pasta Salad and Honey Peach Vinaigrette, to this smoothie. This recipe incorporates a full cup of peaches to max out the peachy goodness.
Peach Smoothie Ingredients
- Peaches – frozen peaches do best in this recipe. We recommend picking fresh peaches when they’re in season, then freezing them (skin on) for a little extra flavor and nutrients. Of course, garden variety frozen peaches work wonderfully too!
- Banana – it’s best to use frozen banana in this recipe because it keeps this smoothie cool and creamy. Check out our short guide on How to Freeze Bananas for a few quick tips!
- Milk – we like to use almond milk in our smoothie recipes, but feel free to sub in your favorite milk.
- Protein powder – we usually throw in a scoop of vanilla or salted caramel protein powder in this smoothie for some extra fuel.
- Cinnamon – a pinch of cinnamon is the perfect complement to peaches and adds a little sweetness.
- Flax seed (optional) – we love to toss in extra nuts and seeds for a hint of healthy plant-based fats, omega-3s, and fiber. Since peaches are more mild in flavor, we opted for flax seed so as not to overpower the peachy flavor.
How to Make Peach Smoothie
In a high powered blender, combine the peaches, banana, almond milk, protein powder, flax seed, and cinnamon. Blend until smooth, about 1 minute. Enjoy!
Peach Smoothie Modifications
- Yogurt instead of protein powder – We are not big fans of yogurt in smoothies, so we use protein powder. But if you don’t have protein powder or prefer yogurt, you can sub in 1/3 cup of plain yogurt or Greek yogurt with 1 to 2 teaspoons of honey or maple syrup.
- Add more fruits and veggies – we like to add strawberries and spinach to this smoothie when we need an extra hit of nutrients. They are more mild in flavor, so won’t overpower the peachiness. Be careful with your selection, as other fruits, like blueberries, can be overshadow the peach flavor.
- Make it a smoothie bowl – to make a smoothie bowl, reduce the amount of liquid to make a thicker mixture. Top with your favorites, like chopped fresh peaches, almonds, shaved coconut, banana slices, hemp seeds, etc.
Tips for Making the Perfect Smoothie
- Use frozen produce – frozen produce is great for keeping your smoothie thick and cold without needing ice. We recommend freezing peaches and bananas ahead of time or buying frozen fruit. Using fresh ingredients? Add a few ice cubes and add milk a little at a time to get the right consistency.
- Prep ingredients ahead of time – to save time and to have a full week’s worth of smoothies ready at a moment’s notice, make “grab-n-go” smoothie bags. Combine a single serving frozen peaches and bananas in a freezer baggie for each day of the week. Then toss it in the blender with a scoop of protein powder, flax seed, and almond milk. Blend and go.
- Invest in a quality blender – If you are a frequent smoothie maker (like more than once a week), you may want to consider upgrading to a high quality blender. We love our Ninja, but have also heard great things about Vitamix blenders. Look for a brand with high quality, sharp blades and high power motor. Many can handle the thickness of a smoothie bowl with no fuss.
